Fourteen Hundred Cowries and other African Tales by Abayomi Fuja
The collector of these tales, Abayomi Fuja, wrote: ‘These stories are traditional, and are mostly connected with ancient beliefs. They were originally in verse, and were recited by initiates, and later told as folk stories by laymen. It is a custom among all Yoruba people to gather children together, especially on moonlit nights, and relate these stories to them.
